Day 3

After a hard day in the hills, the Cycle team were hoping for an easy day cycling from Dieppe to Cergy. We started the morning with a great view and gentle route along Avenue Verte…

Moving on to the public roads…

Then France brought on its finest weather to ruin a cheese plate and glass of red wine…

Despite the bad conditions and dampened spirits the team made it to Cergy and are looking forward to getting to the Linx Evry office tomorrow.

Day 1

The cycle team was given a big send off by  Linx staff and EAAA and we couldn’t have asked for better weather on our first day.

84 miles in the British sunshine kept the spirits high. The group stayed together and kept ahead of schedule letting us enjoy a beverage a Tower Bridge.

Thanks again for our support team, especially keeping the drinks cold for the end of the day.

What’s a Sausage Sizzle?

With two days before the grand depart, the Linx team had a Sausage Sizzle (BBQ) to raise money. Considering it was the only day this week without sun, we managed to raise £450 over lunch taking the current total to £6,134!

Thanks for everyone who braved the cold.

Big week for training & fundraising

Lots of action last week! A large group participated in the Cambridge 100 on Sunday the 1st May. It was the team’s first chance to test out the kit for the ride.

Last week also saw lots of fundraising, with the total getting of 20% of our target breaking £2,000. A big portion of this was the £445 raised in the daily car wash by the riders as well as a few Linx directors.

The daily car wash was also received a visit from the East Anglia Air Ambulance van.

Preview of Day 1 & 2

Over the last few weekends I have been out testing the routes for day 1 and day 2 of our ride.

St Ives to Bromley

A few weekends ago I rode a shortened route from Cambridge to London to check the suitability of the route. Day 1 is a long day in the saddle covering 81 miles. For the 57 miles tested, it is a pretty nice quite route… Lots of easy hills and nice views. Around Harlow it is a bit hectic, but then eases off through Epping before hitting Stratford and London. All the roads around London have been resurfaced, so it should be a pretty smooth run into the city.

Bromley to Newhaven

Day 2 couldn’t be any different to the first day. Whilst it is only 56 miles, the hills just keep coming and coming. I rode form Greenwich to Seaford which is pretty much most of the route we will take. This is going to be a real test on the legs with three climbs at Beddlestead Lane, Toys Hill and Chuck Hatch Road.
